About The Project

Over the course of the last few weeks, we have supplied a number of bespoke Accoya doors to clients across the Nottingham area, each one handcrafted at our Langley Mill workshop and finished to the highest standard before delivery and installation.

These projects showcase the breadth of design, colour and glazing options available through Boam Joinery, from bold heritage statement pieces through to clean, contemporary entrance doors, all sharing the same exceptional quality of materials, finish and hardware.

Why We Use Accoya

Accoya is widely regarded as one of the finest timber products available for exterior joinery, and it is the material we consistently recommend for front doors and other exposed external applications.

Produced through a process called acetylation, Accoya is a modified timber that offers outstanding dimensional stability, meaning it will not swell, shrink or warp in the way that conventional timbers can when exposed to the elements.

It carries a 50-year above-ground guarantee and is highly resistant to rot, making it a genuinely long-term investment for any homeowner.

For painted doors in particular, Accoya performs exceptionally well. Its stable surface holds paint finishes far better than most other timbers, reducing the frequency of repainting and keeping the door looking its best for far longer.

The Remmers Paint System

Every door in this batch was finished using the Remmers paint system, a professional-grade exterior coating system that we specify on all our painted Accoya joinery.

Remmers is a premium German paint manufacturer with a long-standing reputation in the joinery and timber coating industry.

Their exterior paint systems are formulated specifically for timber, offering superior flexibility, adhesion and weather resistance compared to standard decorating paints. The result is a finish that looks exceptional straight from the workshop and continues to perform and look good long into the life of the door.

The Doors In This Batch

The variety of doors produced in this batch reflects the truly bespoke nature of what we offer at Boam Joinery. Two doors were photographed fresh from the workshop ahead of delivery (a traditional stable door style in a soft off-white finish with a 9-pane glazed upper section and tongue-and-groove lower panel, and a similar design in a beautiful blush pink finish), both fitted with Winkhaus multi-point locking systems.

A further door was installed at a client's property finished in a deep heritage green, incorporating five panels of original stained and leaded heritage glass in rich jewel tones, sitting beneath a natural oak lintel.

Finally, a striking six-panel door in a deep matt black was installed at a farmhouse property within a full-width frame incorporating two large, glazed sidelights with horizontal glazing bars, set into an original exposed brick surround.

Winkhaus Multi-Point Locking

All doors in this batch were fitted with Winkhaus multi-point locking systems as standard. Winkhaus is one of the leading names in door hardware, producing multi-point locking mechanisms that offer a significantly higher level of security than a standard single-point lock.

With locking points distributed at multiple positions along the door edge, the door is held firmly against the frame at every point when locked, making it far more resistant to forced entry and greatly reducing the risk of draughts or weather ingress around the perimeter of the door.

Accoya Doors Installed Across Nottinghamshire

Whether you are looking for a traditional heritage door with original leaded glass, a contemporary painted entrance door with glazed sidelights, or something entirely bespoke to your property and your taste - we can design, manufacture and install the right door for you.

Every door we produce is handcrafted at our Langley Mill workshop and finished to order, so that no two doors are ever quite the same.
