At Boam Joinery, we recently completed a bespoke French Casement Windows project at a charming holiday cottage in the picturesque village of Winster, Derbyshire. The owners wanted to preserve the character of the property while improving its functionality and energy efficiency. This required not just a skilled team but also quality materials to deliver a result that balanced both style and practicality.
Our joinery team began the project by consulting closely with the cottage owners to ensure that the new windows would match the traditional aesthetics of the property. French casement windows are an excellent choice for period properties as they open out fully without a central frame, allowing for maximum ventilation and unobstructed views. We made the windows from high-quality hardwood, which provides excellent durability and a timeless appearance that suits the rustic charm of the cottage.
The windows were crafted in our workshop to precise specifications, with each piece meticulously shaped, assembled, and finished to ensure a perfect fit. To complete the look, we applied a factory finish using Remmers UK paint which provides a beautiful appearance with long-lasting protection against weathering. The chosen shade was selected to complement the cottage’s existing colour scheme, adding to its overall appeal.
Once the manufacturing was complete, our team transported the finished windows to the property in Winster in Derbyshire for installation. The fitting process required careful handling, as the cottage’s walls were uneven in places due to the age of the building. Each window was expertly fitted into its designated space, and adjustments were made as needed to make sure there were no gaps, meaning the windows would be draught-proof and completely secure.
To enhance the functionality and security of the windows, we used high-quality hardware supplied by Toolfix Joinery Supplies. The fittings were chosen for their strength and ease of use, making the windows safe and simple to operate. The finished installation not only improved the overall look of the cottage but also increased its energy efficiency, meaning the owners can enjoy a warmer, more comfortable interior.
This project highlights our expertise in creating custom French casement windows that blend traditional style with modern performance. At Boam Joinery, we are proud to provide bespoke joinery services for properties across Derbyshire, making sure that each project is completed to the highest standard.
