Bespoke Joinery Work For A Living Room Media Wall

At Boam Joinery, we recently completed a bespoke media wall installation in Heanor, Derbyshire. The project was carried out for a homeowner who wanted a clean, modern feature wall to improve the look and feel of their living space. The customer already had a vision in mind. They wanted something simple but practical. We worked closely with them to bring that idea to life.

Custom Design & Planning

Before getting started, we measured the room and discussed key features. The media wall needed to be centred around the television whilst offering additional storage space. The final design included two columns of open shelving. These shelves sit either side of a central section, which houses the television. Everything is designed to be neatly contained, so the whole setup feels like a part of the room. We also added inbuilt cabinets at the bottom of the unit. These provide plenty of storage space without taking up extra floor space. All cabinet doors were made flush with clean, simple lines.

Premium Materials With A Spray Finish

The entire media unit was sprayed in white RAL 9016 for a crisp finish. This shade is a clean white tone that works well in most rooms. It also helps reflect light and keep the space feeling bright and airy. We used natural oak for the shelves and the cabinet surfaces. These were finished in @rubiomonocoatuk pure wood oil. This protects the timber and really brings out the natural tones in the oak, adding some warmth that complements the rest of the unit.

Accent Lighting Built Into The Shelving

To add subtle highlights, soft accent lighting was fitted into the shelves. These lights make the unit stand out without being too bright. They help create a relaxed mood in the evening and draw attention to any ornaments or books placed on the shelves. Each lighting strip was installed neatly, with all wiring hidden behind the structure.

Excellent Cable Management

One of the main priorities was to keep cables out of sight. We made sure all wiring for the television, lighting and power points could be routed through the back of the media wall. All cables were fully hidden from view. This keeps the room looking tidy and removes any visual clutter around the television area.

Attention To Detail Throughout

As with all our bespoke joinery work, every part of this installation was made to measure. Every joint, shelf and cabinet were made to fit perfectly. We carried out the full installation with care, making sure every edge lined up and every surface was smooth. All corners were checked and sprayed with precision to avoid any overspray or patches. We used durable hardware for the cabinets, making sure they’ll stand the test of time.

A Great Result For A Happy Customer

The finished media wall now stands as the centrepiece of the living room. It ticks all the boxes for style, storage, and function. The customer was very pleased with the finished result and the level of detail we put into the work.
