Nestled in the heart of Bullbridge, Derbyshire, The Canal Inn is not just a pub; it's a testament to the region's rich heritage. Recently, our team at Boam Joinery had the privilege of contributing to the restoration of this Grade 2 listed gem. Our task? To supply and fit pre-finished hardwood sash windows and doors, complemented by putty pointed Heritage double glazing. This project wasn't just about restoration; it was about preserving history.
Working on a Grade 2 listed building comes with its unique set of challenges and responsibilities. Every detail, from the choice of materials to the craftsmanship, needs to resonate with the building's historical character. That's where our expertise and passion for joinery and carpentry came into play. We worked in close collaboration with the conservation officer and architect, ensuring that our work not only met but exceeded the meticulous standards required for such a distinguished property.
Our approach was to blend traditional methods with modern precision. The hardwood sash windows and doors were carefully crafted, keeping in mind the architectural integrity of The Canal Inn. The Heritage double glazing was a crucial addition, enhancing the building's thermal efficiency while maintaining its historic appeal. Putty pointing, a technique often used in older buildings, added to the authenticity of the restoration, seamlessly integrating the new windows with the old structure.
As the work progressed, it was remarkable to see how each element we added brought the building closer to its former glory. The windows and doors, with their classic design and flawless finish, not only improved the building's functionality but also revived its aesthetic charm. The project, while challenging, was a testament to the skills and dedication of our team at Boam Joinery.
We are thrilled with the final outcome and take pride in knowing our craftsmanship has contributed to preserving a piece of history. Next time you're in Bullbridge, we recommend stopping by The Canal Inn. Not just for a pint, but to witness a piece of history brought back to life by the hands of those who deeply care about our architectural heritage.
We at Boam Joinery look forward to more such projects where we can apply our skills to preserve the past for future generations.
